Three pieces will feature at the ninth concert: Handel’s early cantata, Il duello amoroso, evoking a love banter, Beethoven’s uniquely orchestrated early septet, which was the composer’s most popular work at the time, and finally, Bartók’s poignantly beautiful last quartet, String Quartet No. 5 composed before the impending war.
