*If individual lessons are requested, a 25% discount applies to individual fees.

The registration fee includes:

  • Four individual 45-minute lessons with the selected artists, one of which includes a Festival Academy Budapest piano accompanist.
  • It is possible to have two lessons with the same artist, the schedule will be determined by the Artistic Directors.
  • Participation in at least one string chamber orchestra performance led by a Festival Academy Budapest artist, with at least one performance opportunity in FAB matinée concerts.
  • Chamber music collaboration opportunities (suggestions are welcome).
  • Folk and traditional Gypsy music performances with Hungary’s leading musicians.
  • Free admission to Festival Academy Budapest concerts (subject to venue capacity).
  • Accompanying persons of masterclass participants receive a 50% discount on festival tickets.

 

By paying the €100 registration fee, participants can attend all events during the 10-day masterclass period as passive listeners. This includes evening concerts (subject to availability), but the registration fee is non-refundable.

MAXIM VENGEROV’S MASTERCLASS

Festival Academy Budapest announces Maxim Vengerov’s public masterclass, which will take place on July 28 at the BMC, following György Kurtág’s masterclass. Our star guest will select four students from all violin applicants of the FAB X Summerfest based on their submitted application videos.

The selected four violinists will receive one individual lesson with Maxim Vengerov free of charge, supported by the Festival Academy Budapest. This is in addition to the four masterclasses with the other artists of the festival. (An accompanist will be provided for the occasion.)

The masterclasses are open to the public and free of charge.

Required application documents:

  • A short professional biography (in English).
  • A high-resolution photo (minimum 600 dpi).
  • A YouTube link with a performance of two contrasting works (solo, with piano, or orchestral accompaniment).
  • Proof of payment of the registration fee.

 

Additional materials for scholarship applications:

  • A PDF document in English explaining the scholarship request.

 

Scholarships

Scholarships apply only to the masterclass fee:

  • “Early Bird – Best Player” Scholarship: Up to 75% discount for applications submitted by April 15.
  • Applications submitted by May 30 are eligible for a 10% or 25% scholarship.

  • Within one month of acceptance, but no later than June 15.

Accommodation:

The Festival cannot provide accommodation during the X. Summerfest. If you are interested in discounted rates, please contact the festival office.
