About the instrumental masterclasses

Requirements

To apply, send the requested information and documents (see below) to masterclasses@festivalacademy.org and the payment of a deposit of €100. The remaining amount must be paid by bank transfer by 30 June 2024.

The applicant accepts that their application does not guarantee admission to the preferred professors and may be subject to change.

*The application is complete with the payment of the registration fee of 100 euros.

 

How to apply

I. Personal data:

Full name, Nationality, Sex, Place of birth (country, city), Date of birth (DD.MM.YYYY), Address (country, postcode, city, street, house number), Email, Phone number, Billing name, Billing address.

II Education:

Institution name, Address, Email, Instrument, Instructor

III. Masterclass:

If an application is for a shorter period of time due to external factors, this must be indicated with the application.

(Optional) Indication of professor preference

(Optional) If requested, indication of accompaniment (€25 per hour, payable together with the masterclass fee)

(Optional) Accommodation requirement (Duration, number of nights, room requirement: Single/Double Room, possibility to specify a roommate.)

THE MATERIAL TO BE HANDED IN:

  • Short CV in English.
  • Photo of the applicant (at least 600 dpi resolution).
  • Application video sent as a YouTube links, including two works of your choice which can be solo, with piano or with orchestra
  • Proof of the payment (deposit) attached

 

ADDITIONAL MATERIAL IF APPLYING FOR A SCHOLARSHIP:
  • Scholarship application justification in pdf format in English (scholarships are available in relation to the masterclass fee).
The application fee

 

Registration fee (deposit): 100 €
Masterclasses: 400 €
Dinner fee: 200 €*
Extra class: 75 €/h
Piano accompaniment: 25 €/h
Passive applicant: 100 €
Discounted bed and breakfast price: 490 €*

The masterclass fee includes:

 

  • four individual lessons – 45 minutes – with at least three artists
  • You can get up to two lessons from the same artist, the schedule is finalised by the artistic directors
  • at least one chamber orchestra performance with students of the Festival, conducted or led by an artist of the Festival Academy Budapest
  • at least one opportunity to perform at a matinee concert of the Festival Academy Budapest
  • folk and traditional gypsy music classes with leading Hungarian artists
  • joint dinners (200 € dinner fee) at the Cafe Vian Restaurant during the festival with the participation of the artists and live Gypsy music
  • The application fee also includes free attendance to the concerts of the Festival Academy Budapest, up to the limit of seats in the halls. (Accompanying students of the Masterclass can buy tickets to the festival programmes with a 50% discount).

 

*The dinner fee and the discounted accommodation fee may change according to the change of rates.

 

By paying the registration fee of €100, you can participate as a passive student at all events during the 10 days of the masterclasses, depending on the availability of the evening concerts after registration, we are unable to refund the registration fee

Fees for chamber music groups:

Registration fee (deposit): 100 €/person
Application fee (50mins classes): 80 €/ lesson
Dinner with the artists: 200 €/person
Discounted bed and breakfast price: 490 €*

Scholarships
SCHOLARSHIPS:
  • Scholarships will be deducted from the master course fee only
  • “Early bird – best player”: 75% scholarships are available limited for entries submitted by 15 February.
  • 50% scholarships are available limited for entries submitted by 15 March.
  • 25% scholarships are available limited for entries submitted by 15 April.
  • Finalists of the Ilona Fehér International Violin Competition (President of the Jury: Shlomo Mintz, Total prize value: 10.000 €)  will receive a 75% scholarship.
  • Bonus scholarship opportunities up to 70% are available via email after application.
