Information

I. Masterclass for Cimbalom Players (Individual Lessons)
We welcome cimbalom players from a variety of musical backgrounds: classical music, folk music, original compositions, jazz, and other improvisational styles.

II. Masterclass for Chamber Ensembles
Smaller classical chamber groups (duos, trios, etc.) where the cimbalom plays a significant role are encouraged to apply.
In addition to original works, we also welcome ensembles presenting classical transcriptions featuring the cimbalom.

III. Introduction to the Cimbalom for Composers and Instrumental Performers
This course aims to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of the cimbalom’s current technical and musical possibilities, as well as its unique character.
Participants will explore the instrument from both practical and theoretical perspectives, fostering the creation of new works and encouraging creative collaborations.
We welcome:
  • Composers who have previously written for the cimbalom and wish to deepen their understanding and gain inspiration for future works.
  • Composers who have not yet written for the cimbalom but are interested in exploring its characteristics and possibilities.
  • Instrumental performers who intend to work with the cimbalom and wish to gain a deeper understanding of the instrument.
The course is open to all musical genres.

IV. The Role of the Cimbalom in an Ensemble
– Focus on Performance Practice and Its Challenges
This section of the course focuses on the cimbalom’s chamber music potential and its diverse roles across genres.
We welcome genre-independent chamber groups (maximum quartet size) that wish to present their repertoire and are open to receiving professional feedback.
The goal is to offer valuable artistic guidance, interpretative suggestions, and inspiring professional feedback for ensemble collaboration and the integration of the cimbalom.
