Apply for the Master Classes of the Festival Academy Budapest!

The international Festival Academy of Budapest offers Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Clarinet, and Piano Master Classes for students (aged 18-25 years), as well as vocal master classes (for participants under 35 years of age), of any university and college school of music, music academy preparatory division or music academy, and of every nationality and country. This year we put chamber music in the center of the Master Classes: the students will be selected from the applicants based on their recordings, and divided into chamber ensembles which work on a serious movement for chamber ensembles, each with the artists of the festival (please see below for details). They can perform the pieces in the Matinée concerts called “Young Talents.”

Apart from that, the artists of the festival can also select students whom they will teach in private lesson(s) as well. There is no extra fee for these private lessons, as they constitute a scholarship for the selected students.

On completion of a pre-registration, students will be able to attend all of the concerts, lectures and/or their rehearsals or dress rehearsals.

The course fee is 400 EUR. On the basis of the recordings submitted, the Festival Academy will offer fee reductions in limited number. More information will be provided later.

Application Procedure

Documents to be submitted to 

Curriculum vitae in English or Hungarian with photo
a minimum of 2, at least 5-minute-long video recordings of the applicant playing pieces or excerpts in 2 different styles. The recordings or links can be attached to the email; providing an audio CD is not required.

The results of the selections will be announced until 15 May, and the selected students will also receive the chamber music works to be performed.
